Exhibitions
To celebrate the Royal wedding of Prince William to Catherine Middleton a special Historic Wedding Exhibition will be on display throughout the summer.
As well as a short film of historic weddings, The Queen Mother's wedding dress is on display until August. There are other important dresses including a recreated dress which was worn by Mary Eleanor Bowes in 1767, and the dress of Betty Cator, one of the Queen Mother's bridesmaids who subsequently married the Queen Mother's elder brother.Other items on display include the official wedding programme of the 1923 Royal wedding, a beautiful Illuminated Book of Address which was presented to Lady Elizabeth on the occasion of her marriage by the Country of Angus, and items of18th clothing which would have been worn to weddings.
A separate 'Recepiton Room' plays a short DVD of the castle tour and in order to display some of the exceptionally interesting articles which have accumulated at Glamis over the centuries, the Blue Room has been adapted into a small museum known as ‘The Family Exhibition’.
