The Strathmore Estate

The 18th Earl of Strathmore lives at Glamis with his wife, The Countess of Strahtmore and his two step-daughters.  He has four sons from previous marriages, the eldest Simon Patrick, Lord Glamis, being the heir to the title. 
Lord Strathmore takes an active role in the management of the Estate, the Castle and the farming enterprises.

As a separate venture Lord Strathmore purchased in October 2005 the business of David Irons & Sons Ltd, located in Castle Street, Forfar.  He describes this as a 'good old fashioned furnishing ironmonger' which forms an important part of Forfar's economy and was originally started by George Irons in 1840. The present magnificent premises in Castle Street were constructed for the business in 1908 and after five generations of the Irons family, Lord and Lady Strathmore are enjoying the challenge of continuing a traditional business in today's modern retail environment.
