Seasonal Activities
SPRING – The mile-long avenue is lined with broad swathes of daffodils and snowdrops all around. This is a delightful time to relax and enjoy the calmness of the surroundings and to make the most of a very relaxing visit.
SUMMER – Colour and spectacle is the name of the game now. Displays of colourful rhododendrons and azaleas grace the grounds and this is the best time to see kingfishers, dippers and trout. Our events calendar includes; Highland Games, Scottish Transport Extravaganza, Grand Scottish Prom and Scotland’s Countryside Festival.
AUTUMN - See the spectacle of rich autumnal colours from the abundance of trees and once again there is an air of serenity in the grounds. This is a magical time to enjoy the full beauty of the castle and grounds.
WINTER – We invite you now to get into the Spirit of Christmas for the festive season. See the castle specially decorated for the occasion and enjoy a full programme of events designed to capture the essence of this special time of year. What you can see and do includes: themed tours, storytelling, santa visits, santa’s grotto, carol concerts and floral art displays.
After a brisk walk on the Winter Trail come into to the Victorian Kitchen Restaurant and sit around the wood-burning stove as you enjoy some hot chocolate and home baking.
The shops are always stocked with a range of stylish and unusual gifts for you to choose from.
As well as the adult carol concerts there is some fabulous entertainment for children including: storytelling, face-painting and santa’s grotto.
The threatened and indigenous red squirrel still thrives at Glamis; and with a little patience they can be seen at several places around the grounds.
July 26th commemorates 60 years of castle opening to the public. The first 60 people will be charged at the 1950 rate of 2/6 (12 pence).
We are celebrating the centenary year of The Italian Garden at Glamis in 2010.
Tickets are available to purchase now for Halloween. This event sells very quickly all tickets were sold by mid September last year. Avoid disappointment and book now.
