Newspapers

Newspapers can be extremely helpful in family and local history research as they can contain details of buildings, events and individuals, including obituaries, retirement notices, lists of school prizes, etc. The British Newspaper Library at Colindale, north London (part of the British Library) holds enormous collections of British and Irish newspapers, magazines and similar material, including some foreign titles, and its web site allows a search of its holdings by place-name, title of newspaper, etc. See http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/inrrooms/blnewspapers/newsrr.html
