Janet Douglas – Lady Glamis (c.1498 –17 July 1537) Wife of John Lyon 6th Lord Glamis

Take a trip through history to a time when women were accused of witchcraft merely on hearsay, a time when people were tried, convicted and put to death without a shred of evidence!

The tragic, true story of Lady Janet Douglas. The story of an amazingly courageous woman who was falsely accused of witchcraft, treason and murder.

Listen to her own words as she was tried.  Hear how she was betrayed by a man who’s advances she refused, a man who turned the King against her and how she was finally sentenced to be burned alive in front of her young son.

This is the story of Lady Janet Douglas presented by Gail Renwick one of the Glamis Castle Guides
