Glamis Castle has been a much sought-after wedding venue since the first wedding ceremony here in 1376 when Sir John Lyon brought his royal bride Princess Johanna to Glamis. Since then, countless couples have been enchanted by the romantic aura and breath-taking landscape. With over six centuries of stories, couples become part of the castle’s rich history as they celebrate their marriage here.







A location like no other
From the moment you arrive down the mile long drive, you will experience the magic of Glamis Castle against the backdrop of the Angus Glens. The impressive gardens provide both unique locations for wedding ceremonies and interesting photography locations.
Glamis Castle boasts many beautiful locations for your wedding ceremony, whether religious or civil. In addition, many of these spaces can be used for hosting drinks, wedding breakfasts and entertainment.


16th Century Chambers
Part of the original Royal Hunting Lodge, the 16th Century Chambers is the oldest part of the castle. Adjoining the main chamber is the Earl’s private dining room which becomes an intimate setting for a small wedding ceremony or wedding breakfast for up to 35 people.
Victorian Dining Room
Built in the 1850’s, this striking room features a Victorian plaster ceiling decorated with thistles, roses and lions. It can host wedding ceremonies for up to 80 guests, and wedding breakfasts for up to 35 guests if sitting at our State Dining Table, or up to 80 guests seated across a number of round tables.


17th Century Drawing Room
This room has a fine arched ceiling of beautiful plasterwork dating back to 1621. In the centre of the room is a great fireplace that celebrates the Union of the Crowns where the thistle of Scotland and rose of England can be seen intertwining in peace. Wedding ceremonies can be hosted here with a capacity for up to 80 guests.
Medieval Crypt
Evocative and steeped in folklore, the Medieval Crypt is brimming with unusual artifacts and heirlooms. This room provides a memorable setting for wedding ceremonies, accommodating up to 35 guests, with the neighbouring Victorian Dining Room available for hosting a celebratory wedding breakfast

Front Lawn
With the castle as a dramatic backdrop, our front lawn offers the ideal setting for couples who wish to organise their own wedding marquee. This flexible option can accommodate up to 200 guests, providing the freedom to create a bespoke large celebration at a Scottish castle.
The Italian Garden
Designed by the Queen Mother’s mother, Countess Cecilia, our Italian Gardens are an impressive location for a unique wedding ceremony that can accommodate up to 150 guests.


The Kitchen Garden
The walled Kitchen Garden, featuring an elegant central fountain, a Monet-style bridge and ornamental pond, offers a romantic setting for small wedding ceremonies.
Estate Grounds
With acres of open grounds, Strathmore Estate offers a variety
of more secluded outdoor locations for both wedding
ceremonies and photographs. Options include the Captain’s
Pond, tranquil riverside locations and expansive fields with the castle providing a memorable backdrop.

Our wedding packages include the expertise of our dedicated Wedding Co-ordinator, a piper’s welcome for your guests on arrival, a castle tour while the Bride and Groom have their photographs taken, and a range of stationery including order of service cards, menu cards, table names and place cards, and more.

We can accommodate a variety of entertainment within our event spaces, from acoustic musicians to singing waiters! While dance floor space is limited, it is achievable, and our team will be happy to advise of suitable options once guest numbers are confirmed.
Our culinary team offer a range of delicious menus, showcasing both seasonal produce and traditional flavours. Our wedding menu selections includes a choice of three course menu options as well as canapés and evening buffet options.

Dogs are welcome to be part of outdoor wedding ceremonies or feature in photographs, as long as they are kept on a lead at all times. However, dogs are not permitted within the castle itself.
Glamis sits 12 miles from Dundee where the nearest airport and train station are located. From here, car or private bus hire is recommended as the best transport option to accommodate wedding parties.
