This Halloween, our popular event returns and we promise to tell you the tales of ghouls, ghosts and gory horrors from history.

Date: 23rd - 25th and 29th - 31st October
Time: 6.30pm - 9pm

Midnight in New Orleans Jazz Concert

An unforgettable evening of authentic early jazz, performed in the Drawing Room of Glamis Castle on 14th November.

A memorable evening of jazz awaits!

Experience the sounds of New Orleans, Chicago and Harlem as an exceptional international quartet makes its Scottish debut at Glamis Castle. Featuring acclaimed New York trumpeter and trombone player Mike Davis, Argentine pianist Lucas Ferrari, Buenos Aires banjo and guitarist Fernando Montardit, and Scotland’s own Roy Percy on bass, the evening will bring together hot ensemble playing, virtuosic solos, stories and spontaneous improvisation in the intimate setting of the Drawing Room.

Making his Scottish debut, Mike Davis is a regular performer at the legendary Birdland venue in New York City. He is the leader of New York’s acclaimed New Wonders and has performed with Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks, Terry Waldo, Dan Levinson, Dandy Wellington and the Louis Armstrong Eternity Band. The Wall Street Journal has called him an “eloquent trumpet prodigy” while DownBeat describes him as having “emerged from a time portal from the year 1927.”

From Buenos Aires, Lucas Ferrari brings an extraordinary knowledge of New Orleans jazz, ragtime, stride and swing. He has worked with musicians including Gunhild Carling, Vince Giordano and Bria Skonberg.

Joining them is Fernando Montardit, whose banjo and guitar playing draws on his work with Argentina’s celebrated Porteña Jazz Band and collaborations with international swing musicians.

Edinburgh’s Roy Percy will be on bass. Roy is a beloved fixture in the Scottish music scene who regularly collaborates with international musicians such as Tim Klipheus, Ali Affleck and Seonaid Aitken.

This is a rare opportunity to experience internationally acclaimed musicians at close quarters, in the magnificent Drawing Room of Glamis Castle.

Doors open at 6.45pm and the performance will commence at 7.30pm. A selection of alcoholic and soft drinks will be available to purchase throughout the evening.
